Experience
I have 14 years' experience teaching and tutoring in private homes, public schools, and the UC Berkeley Academic Talent Development Program. I also have extensive experience as a professional writer and editor. As a teacher, tutor, and writing coach, I provide students with the personalized feedback that they need to improve their writing fluency and composition skills. I help students to recognize and use their own strengths to develop their academic skills. When it comes to homework support, I can help students to better understand the expectations, and I can guide them toward the skills they need to meet or exceed those expectations. Alternately, I can work with the student to develop an independent academic enrichment program that will strengthen his or her preparation for college. I help both young people and adults to articulate their ideas and get them down on the page in a clear, well-organized (and often even beautiful) form.
